mySociety is a not-for-profit organisation promoting and developing online technologies to enhance civic participation. Established in 2003, mySociety operates across three practice areas: democracy, transparency, and community. Additionally, mySociety is aiming to respond to the climate emergency by providing people with the power to demand change. Providing meaningful ways of accessible citizen participation that go beyond election days and demonstrations help strengthen and secure democracy.
mySociety has developed four online tools for helping people become active citizens:
- TheyWorkForYou presents data from the UK Parliament in a user-friendly way, informing citizens about what their MPs are doing for them.
- WriteToThem is an accessible platform for contacting elected representatives.
- WhatDoTheyKnow is a website for requesting information from any UK public body.
- Climate Action Plan Explorer is a platform providing access to all climate action plans published by UK councils, created in cooperation with Climate Emergency UK.
